THE NEW BELIEVER’S CLASS

Topic:  The Lord is my Shepherd

This teaching will be the 23rd chapter of Psalms. God's divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of Him [Jesus, our Shepherd....].

Because of our relationship with Jesus, we have “no lack” in our lives (vs. 1). Everything the believer has need of to live a victorious life is found in our Great Shepherd. Jesus, is our El Shadi (God of all sufficiency). Oh yes, His favor (grace) is on our lives and His grace is always sufficient; meaning, He “gives us what we need when we need it!" This great psalm teaches the believer that there is a “rest” for the people of God (vs. 2). Every believer has within him the “restoring power of the Holy Spirit” to restore any and all relationships including the marriage relationship and the family (vs. 3). Verse 4 teaches the believer the great promise that our Shepherd is always with us, even when we are “walking through the valley of the shadow of death.” Our Shepherd will never leave us. He will never forsake us. Never! Never! Never! (vs. 4). Every believer has been anointed by Jesus, our Shepherd, with the Holy Spirit and with power for continual victory in our lives. It is the anointing of the Holy Spirit that destroys every yoke. “You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over” (vs. 5). Our Shepherd has poured out upon us His goodness and mercy. Not for a day; a week; a month; or even a year. As the people of His pasture (His Kingdom), His goodness and mercy is “for all the days of my life” (vs. 6)
